Medical Transcription Training Program in Grand Prairie, TX



ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Medical Transcription Applicants must possess a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalent, or be able to pass a Wonderlic Basic Skills Test (Admission Test) with a minimum score of 15, as well as be able to read and write English. The applicant must also be able to type 20 wpm and be able to read and write English. The applicant must schedule an interview with the admissions office and submit a completed enrollment form. Once the student has been accepted they will be subject to the school’s refund and cancellation policy. Class size is limited based upon space availability. Efforts are made to assign a class time that fits the prospective student’s schedule. The MT Training Center does not discriminate regarding race, creed, age, sex, or religion. Class Schedule

Day and evening classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday, as indicated below. The Day Program consists of three terms of one hundred and fifty (150) hours each. The Evening Program consists of three terms have one hundred and twenty (120) hours each, and a fourth term of ninety- (90) hours. Upon completion of four hundred and fifty (450) total hours of instruction and successfully completing passing written and practical examinations, the student will be issued a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION. Graduation Requirements

The graduating student must possess a knowledge and understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology, word processing skills, AAMT Book of Style, as well as be familiar with the various types of dictation. Students must also possess knowledge of medical office settings and be able to type a minimum of 60 words per minute. Students must attend a minimum of 75% of total contact hours to graduate from the program.

Objective

The Medical Transcription program is designed to provide the student with those skills and competencies necessary to type the physician's dictation pertaining to patient care and treatment. Through hands-on experience, the student will review and work with a variety of medical documents, procedures, and terms, as well as general vocabulary, basic grammar and editing techniques. The graduate will qualify for employment in medical offices, various hospital departments and health-care clinics, as well as the ability to run a home-based medical transcription business. Upon completion of the medical transcription program, a Certificate of Completion will be granted.
