Advanced Gunsmithing Training Program in DeSoto, TX

The Advanced Gunsmithing program prepares students with in-depth expertise in firearm design, fabrication, modification, and repair. Through hands-on training in metalworking, woodworking, and ballistics, students develop precision, creativity, and technical mastery across handguns, rifles, and shotguns. The program emphasizes safety, legal and ethical responsibility, and adherence to industry standards while strengthening problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Business fundamentals and professionalism are integrated to equip graduates for success as skilled gunsmiths or business owners in the evolving firearms industry.

Graduation Requirements

The successful student will have completed 80% of clock hours at a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher. The student will need to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the program’s learning objectives. This includes acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for the design, fabrication, modification, and repair of firearms, as well as mastering safety protocols, legal regulations, and ethical practices. Students are expected to show proficiency in technical competencies through hands-on projects, practical exercises, and assessments, ensuring they meet industry standards and are prepared for professional careers in gunsmithing or firearms-related business ventures. Upon completion of the program and successfully passing all written and welding examinations, the student will be issued a Certificate of Completion by MT Training Center.

CNC Operations & Programming: This course provides comprehensive instruction in CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine operations and programming. Students will learn CNC machining fundamentals, blueprint reading, coordinate systems, tooling selection, machine setup, and G-code programming. Emphasis is placed on safe operation, precision machining, program verification, and industry-standard practices using CNC milling and turning machines.
